Locating People on the Internet is Easy (too easy!)

By

You ever wonder if the Internet was the best invention of our time?

Cyberspace allows us to roam anywhere and everywhere we want. Whatever I want to find or wish to research, it is findable and now accessible online. Wherever, I wish to go or visit, I can in the virtual sense via the web. The possibilities are literally endless.

We're all hooked into the Internet.

The WWW is one modern convenience that I cannot live without. At this point, I am hooked and end up surfing or "working" more that I watch T.V. It's hard to imagine life without computers and our wireless (WIFI) Internet connections. One of the greatest enablers found in cyberspace is it's ability to enhance the connection between humans. You can chat or send messages to whom ever you please twenty-four hours a day. Not to mention, you can locate people with a small amount of information. You don't even need their current phone number. Think about all of the people you'd like to find. Now, you can and they are most likely on Facebook.

For decades now, we've consider the telephone the primary way to locate people. Before that, we more or less contacted people in our close proximity. Going forward, it really seems the Internet is going to be the great connector of us all. Times are changing and they are changing fast.

Good or bad: You can find just about anything online.

You can now locate someone with only their name or perhaps their email address. This can be all accomplished online via this search engine or that. You can pay for a service and dig even deeper. You may or may not already know this but there are several Internet services available that allow us to seek out people across the globe with pin point precision. Freaked out. I am a little.

With the knowledge of first and last name, you can easily fire up a search engine and in a few mili-seconds you have results. You may find that long lost paper you published in college or you may find a reference to that great site you just bookmarked on Digg.

Locating people on the Internet: You may get many rules or none.

There are some slight catches when it comes to locating specific people via the Internet. If the name you're searching for happens to be fairly common one, you just might receive a number of results. A way to cut these down is by including a middle initial if you know it or you can easily look up any previous addresses that you know of. Interested in tracking someone down. Get in touch with someone from your past today.

To see what I mean, I suggest you try it with your own name right now. Pull up a website like peoplefinders.com, Google.com, whowhere.com. Any of these can help you access a bunch of information and illustrate the depth of the information current "out there". You can even locate people you knew all the way back in high school. I dare you. Try it!
